Pinhole Lens Held Up to the Light

Below are some digital pinhole images I took on my Nikon D300S. Click on the first thumbnail image and then you can use the “>>” button to click through the pictures.


Yes, they aren’t perfectly sharp. Considering that it was made with a pinhole in a piece of metal I’d say it is very good. The images do clean up nicely with a contrast tweak and slight sharpenning. 100% zoom isn’t pretty – very soft – but when resized down around 1024 wide they look acceptable.

Now it is Summer

Spring was really busy. Took one trip down to Iowa to see my brother and sister in law. Got vegetables planted in the garden. Organized my families 10,000 plus film pictures so they are at least in chronological order. Researched and bought two digital film scanners with the goal of scanning as many of the good photographs onto the computer as I can. I’m currently halfway through scanning our APS film – 70 rolls down. Dealt with a failing hard drive on my computer. Busted out my fathers old medium format Mamiya C330F film camera and took a roll of photographs. I’m hoping to get the film back from development in the next couple days. Also spent a weekend at a cabin near Lindstrom, MN.

Summer will have a road trip up to the North Shore, sealing the deck and driveway, a camp trip and more random items.

West of Hayden Lake Road West

I love those partly cloudy days where the sky is a deep blue and there are nicely dispersed clouds overhead. Just wonderful.

The below pictures were taken on Elm Creek Park Reserve’s 10 mile north loop just west of where the trail crosses Hayden Lake Rd. W. All the winter snow has recently melted, and the first blades of grass are coming up.

Small Inlet On Elm Creek

Elm Creek in Elm Creek Park Reserve twists and turns all over the place. I find that pretty cool. I went off trail and hiked over to the creek and took a few pictures. The creek has encroached on a few of the trees. Having not been at this location before, I can’t say if the creek is high or not for this time of the year.

The first picture below is looking towards the other side of a small inlet off the creek. The second is looking out from the inlet and up the creek. These pictures were taken a little ways north of where the creek crosses Elm Creek Road.

Bing maps has a really cool bird’s eye view of this location; follow the link. Bing uses a bunch of different aerial imagery maps, so you can use the top navigation bar to circle around the location and also zoom in and out (you’ll have to check your house out with it!). This isn’t an ad, just found this feature again, and thought I’d share.
